A quick extra step to put QR codes on your worksheets will save you so much time in the long run! I started putting addresses or short urls to websites I needed students to visit on my worksheets, but many students struggled entering them. They would leave out a letter or symbol which would then eat up class time and frustrate the students. I needed a way for students to quickly access online content; I needed QR codes directly on each worksheet.
Here are a few other benefits:
- Most clips I show are on YouTube. I can create a QR code to the clip and put it on the worksheet. Now, even when students are absent they can access the content at home (or the library if they don’t have internet access at home).
- It’s just as many steps to create a short url. Might as well make a QR code instead.
- It’s free!
- Most phones will pick up the QR code via the camera. You don’t even need a QR reader app.
- Save paper linking to articles rather than printing them.
Not sure how to do it? I put together a super-short video (link in the picture above) walking you through the process. I use Google Slides and QR Code Generator for my worksheets. If you use Microsoft Office products, you would just save the code to your computer and then insert them as you would any other picture.
Still not sure? Leave a comment and I’ll help you out.
